RATED R FOR LANGUAGE THROUGHOUT AND BRIEF NUDE SKETCHES LENGTH: 140 MINUTES

In the past 10 years we've been getting an influx of new music-focused documentaries, music superstars from the likes of Justin Bieber, One Direction, and Katy Perry debuted their 'rock-docs' on the big screen, in 3D no less, which led to financial success. In recent years, many of these films have been hitting streaming services with artists such as Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and the Jonas Brothers all having biographical documentaries of their own. It was only a matter of time before multi-Grammy winner and worldwide phenomenon Billie Eilish debuted a doc of her own and with RJ Cutler's Billie Eilish: The World's A Little Blurry, she may have delivered the best rock-doc yet.

Instead of being interview-based, The World's A Little Blurry opts for a more up close and personal look at Eilish, from her relationship with her family, her life on tour, her romantic interests, and her mental health. The doc delves into all of this, while covering the recording of Eilish's first studio album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?.

The World's A Little Blurry clocks in at quite the hefty runtime of 2 hours and twenty minutes and never once does the film feel like it's overstaying it's welcome. Despite it's runtime being felt, the film's lax pacing actually adds to the film's authenticity. Most of the time these music-based documentaries sugarcoat the artist and paint them as a picture-perfect person who gets along with everyone and that's not the case here. Instead the film feels wholly authentic and most of all earnest.

At it's core The World's A Little Blurry feels like a 'hang-out movie' by getting up close and personal with Eilish's personal life, we feel as if we are right next to her over the course of the doc. While someone who is unfamiliar with Eilish and her work will likely struggle to get through the film, her hardcore fans will certainly devour this one. As for everyone else, it's either going to bore them or entertain them. It never feels like it's trying to chronicle a concrete dilemma in Eilish's life, instead it plays like an expensive home movie of a year in the life of her family and because of that it works.

Billie Eilish: The World's A Little Blurry is a raw look at the life of a young superstar, instead of portraying Eilish as a larger than life figure, this film grounds her in a way that will make the film's audience instantly connect with her.
